Steward Of The Month
John Gatto is a good steward of his parish, his friends, family, and colleagues!
John, a parishioner at St. Matthew Church in Dix Hills since 1969, has served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Hospice and as a religious education teacher.
For more than 40 years, the Brooklyn native, who is also a former Marine and veteran of WWII, has also been a active member of St. Vincent de Paul Society, taking care of those who come to him for help and guidance. Additionally, John serves as a speaker for the Catholic Ministries Appeal at Parishes across Long Island. John didn't learn a script - he visited every program the Appeal supports so that he could direct people to appropriate help if asked. This month, John was honored by Father Robert Hewes for his service and dedication. We join Fr. Hewes in thanking John for inspiring us all to be better stewards!!!
